"Driving in the Rain" is my oldest surviving song. I began writing it in a hotel room while on tour to Chicago ("tour" sounds WAY more glamorous than it was, btw). I was not a Christian when I started writing the song, but my experience on this trip was so bad, I became a Christian that week! After getting home, I finished writing the song as a Christian. Essentially, I wanted to capture the journey from both perspectives, seeing the same things I saw as a non-Christian, but now though different lenses as a renewed being.
